Cet article contribue a la definition de la semiotique culturelle, ou semiotique de la culture en differenciant plusieurs approches. De la, l'A. definit plusieurs concepts comme ceux de non-culture ou d' extra-culture, definis par l'opposition traditionnelle entre Ego et Alter -telle qu'elle a ete entendue par Benveniste (1966)- et commente les considerations sur l'alterite proposees par Bakhtin et Peirce. L'A. propose une reflexion a partir des exemples suivants : 1) la rencontre des cultures lors de la conquete des Ameriques a travers l'etude critique des travaux de Todorov (1982) et Gruzinski (1990) ; 2) l'opposition culturelle entre les hommes et les femmes analysee par Foucault (1976, 1984) dans son histoire de la sexualite
