Following the motive of migration in early North American Cultural Anthropology, this article sheds light on the popularization of academic knowledge between the 1900s and 1930s by means of different expressions and formats. These aesthetic and transgressive practices of early Cultural Anthropologists were very much linked to generating cultural relativism as a theoretical and political framework. The article follows three objectives: First, it investigates into the relations between cultural relativism and the topic of migration. Second, it reveals the twofold positioning of migration being both a research field and an epistemological principle. In a third step, I relate migration to the phenomenon of historicity in early Cultural Anthropology, which emerges in the assembling of past, present, and future. By means of a relational analysis of migration, which overarches various social fields, I employ different media such as poems, images, and newspaper articles to widen our understanding of historical-anthropological knowledge production. With this focus, I discuss the question of the relationship between the project of Historical Anthropology and Cultural Anthropology
