Schwartz : Literary observations on the book of Tobit The common model for the present versions of the book of Tobit was set down in Egypt in the same sphere (and perhaps by the same hand) as the model for the two existing Greek versions of the novel of Joseph and Aseneth. Moreover, certain details in the situation and the vocabulary reveal that the writer of the book of Tobit was familiar with Menander's comedies
