Patristics in the Strasbourg Protestant Theology Faculty 1872-1939. From 1872 to 1918 (Kayser, Lucius, Anrieh, Ficker) and then from 1919 to 1939 (Seston, Cullmann), much attention was constantly given, in lectures, to the Fathers of the early Church, especially the Apostolic Fathers, in so far as they contributed to a clearer understanding of the writings of the New Testament
