The evidence assembled here enables us to view the ceramic industry of the Çanakkale region in diachronic perspective and highlights how important it is to study ancient and modern ceramic industries together. Given the rapidity with which these traditional pottery workshops are disappearing, we have a responsibility to undertake the kind of oral history project described here, before the evidence becomes inaccessible
