En México, la demografía histórica también ha experimentado -aunque en fecha más reciente- un proceso de auge, legitimación y reconocimiento, hecho que al parecer comienza a traducirse en la presencia de un número creciente de profesionales interesados en ella.En este trabajo se destaca la importancia de la demografía histórica y se exponen sus fuentes y métodos. Asimismo, se detallan algunos hallazgos de los trabajos incluidos en este volumen temático sobre la demografía histórica mexicana
