Before the paper the President (The Rt. Hon. Sir George Clerk) said: Our lecturer this evening, Dr. J. V. Harrison, is well known to us as a traveller and geologist who has frequently lectured to our Society upon his work in Iran and Peru. To-night he is to speak on his journeys in Luristan, that broken moun? tainous country on the Iraq boundary. In his Asia Lecture of three years ago, he described the routes through the great mountain barriers of southern Iran. His paper to-night will usefully supplement this, for Luristan is occupied by the north-westward extension of these ranges. Dr. Harrison, working with Colonel Falcon, whom we are glad to see present, carried out a survey of this rather inaccessible region of magnificent scenery, and we look forward to his general account of it and to his photographs
