Research Article| March 01 2003 Shameless Women: Repression and Resistance in We Sinful Women: Contemporary Urdu Feminist Poetry Neluka Silva Neluka Silva neluka silva is the Head of the Department of English at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and has worked on issues of nationalism and gender in South Asian literature and culture. She edited The Hybrid Island: Culture Crossings and the Invention of Identity in Sri Lanka (Zed, 2002) and is the co-editor of Across Cultures: Contemporary Sri Lankan and British Writing (British Council, Sri Lanka). Her recent research is on Sri Lankan teledrama. She has been an actress and director in the Sri Lankan theater for over fifteen years.
