S'appuyant sur des observations realisees en milieu rural et urbain de la Roumanie communiste et post-communiste, l'A. propose une reflexion et des commentaires sur le role social de la danse et sur son utilisation politique et ideologique. Selon l'A., la danse constitue un phenomene - un texte culturel - polysemique et multidimensionnel dont la comprehension necessite une approche holistique et integrative conjoignant approche anthropologique et ethnochoreologique. Une approche qui prenne en compte la danse en tant que partie integrante d'un reseau d'evenements sociaux d'une part, et en tant que partie d'un systeme de connaissance et de croyance, de comportement social, de normes et de valeurs esthetiques de l'autre. Abordant les aspects semiotiques et sociaux de la danse, l'A. decrit notamment comment la danse et les styles de danses furent instrumentalises en Roumanie en tant que symboles identitaires et nationaux, a travers la manipulations des symboles et des concepts
