Cosa Nostra and Sicilian Society: Giovanni Falcone's Lesson in the Fight Against the Mafia Giovanni Falcone, an Italian magistrate born in 1939, dedicated his life to fighting the mafia, especially the Cosa Nostra. Together with Paolo Borsellino, he fought against organized crime, leading the Maxi Trial, which proved the hierarchical structure of the Sicilian mafia. In this interview, Falcone rejects theories that linked the mafia directly to politics, emphasizing that the ties were indirect, reflecting the social influence of the Cosa Nostra. His analysis addresses the mafia as a sociocultural phenomenon specific to Sicily, inseparable from the social context that legitimized it. His death in 1992 marked a change in the fight against the mafia, revealing his strategic and committed vision
