Les Objectifs de développement durable (ODD) accordant à la pauvreté multidimensionnelle une attention similaire à la pauvreté monétaire, la question de la convergence entre ces indices officiels apparaît primordiale. Une enquête menée au Nord Bénin montre que les approches monétaires et multidimensionnelles identifient comme pauvres des ménages différents. La divergence entre indices est plus forte au sein des grands villages, mieux dotés en infrastructures. Les deux indices diffèrent également dans leur relation avec les actifs traditionnels que sont la surface agricole possédée et la taille du cheptel
