Die deutsche Kultursoziologie ist durch eine dreifache Besonderheit gekennzeichnet. Die erste betrifft ihre Geschichte, die bis auf die Gründung des Faches in Deutschland zurückgeht. Zweitens hebt sie sich durch ihre besondere Auffassung des Kulturbegriffs hervor, der nicht als ein Sammelbegriff verstanden wird, sondern als Konzept mit fest umrissenem Inhalt.
