O artigo analisa o fenômeno de land grabbing na região do Matopiba. Por land grabbing entende-se a apropriação de terras para acumulação de capital diante da conjunção de diferentes crises (alimentar, energética, ambiental e financeira) do projeto de globalização neoliberal. A apropriação de terras no Matopiba ocorre a partir de relações transescalares de poder e expõe as contradições entre a lógica corporativa e camponesa de uso dos Cerrados. As informações foram obtidas em trabalhos de campo (entre 2015 e 2018), com visitas a comunidades camponesas, instituições públicas, representantes da sociedade civil e empresas agrícolas, além do levantamento de dados em jornais e revistas especializados, artigos científicos e relatórios. De modo geral, as terras são apropriadas de forma ilegal, com o cercamento de terras devolutas, expropriação de comunidades locais e aumento das conflitualidades e danos ambientais
