ABSTRACT: This essay takes the category of the border as a thread of force in Whites Can Dance Too (2017), a novel by Kalaf Epalanga (1978-). The aim is to observe how bor-der thinking drives and ties this autofictionalized narrative, dynamizing impermeable continuous and discontinuous spaces in the body of national identities. The Angolan author's work projects the border sometimes as a space of national antagonism, some-times as a dialectical domain, penetrable, convergent, and open to identifications with different national othernesses. Throughout this study, it was possible to detect that Kalaf Epalanga achieves a postmodern writing in the sense that he turns national iden-tity - a deeply modern construction - into a space of uncertainty, instability, and oppres-sion, on the one hand, and a territory of multiple possibilities, of expansion and identity detachment, on the other.
