The new right is central to an understanding of Brazilian political and cultural reality with direct impacts on the development of social policy. A qualitative analysis based on a review of the literature with a focus on critical theory shows that the context of the rise of the new right in the country corroborates implementation of social policy focused on the moralization and criminalization of the subject typical of neoconservatism while generating major profits for the owners of capital within the market logic so dear to neoliberalism. Uma análise qualitativa tendo por base uma revisão de literatura narrativa com foco na teoria crítica corrobora a implementação de políticas sociais centradas na moralização e criminalização do sujeito típicas do neoconservadorismo ao mesmo tempo que gera grandes lucros aos detentores do capital, dentro de uma lógica de mercado, tão cara ao neoliberalismo
