La democracia y sus otros. Una contribución desde la semiótica al debate sobre la erosión democrática

El debate sobre el retroceso democrático y sus diversas manifestaciones tiene una vigencia central en la ciencia política actual. El objetivo de este artículo es presentar algunas herramientas provenientes de la semiótica que, como se argumenta, pueden ser útiles para alcanzar una mayor precisión respecto a los conceptos empleados en este debate. En la medida en que las discusiones conceptuales en ciencia política suelen articularse con base en categorías de sentido que median en la interpretación de la evidencia empírica y de la realidad social, el artículo consiste en un análisis de las categorías de “democracia”, “no-democracia” y “autoritarismo”, entre otras, a partir de su posicionamiento en un cuadrado semiótico que permitirá ver las relaciones lógicas entre ellas
