De mithraea te Septeuil (Yvelines 1985) en te Bordeaux (Gironde, 1987) zijn de nieuwste ontdekkingen op dit gebied in transalpijns Gallië. Zij liggen allé twee buiten een economisch centrum : waarschijnlijk in een vicus te Septeuil en aan de rand van de stad te Burdigala. Zij vertonen aile kenmerken van dit soort heiligdom : drieledige struktuur van de ruimte en ligging onder de grond, geheel in Bordeaux, half vitgegra- ven in Septeuil. Ze zijn niet even groot : in Septeuil is het spalaeum klein in vergelijking met Bordeaux. Het bouwmateriaal is verschillend : in Septeuil gebruikte men recuperatiemateriaal voor een eenvoudige inrichting terwijl het methraeum te Bordeaux met zorg afgewerkt is. In Septeuil gaat het om een laat heiligdom uit de tweede helft van de IVe eeuw dat niet lang gebruikt werd, terwijl dat van Bordeaux gebouwd werd in het begin van de IIIe eeuw en blijft bestaan tot in de tweede helft van de IVe eeuw
