The effect of research article length, format, and technical quality upon practicing counselors' receptivity to research material was examined. A group of 160 school and rehabilitation counselors were selected by a stratified sampling procedure and assigned at random to one of eight treatment conditions. Each of these treatments represented a combination of predictor variables. Subject ratings of the research articles were analyzed using a least squares analysis of variance procedure. Contrary to much of the available literature, it was found that none of the predictor variables significantly affected scores of counselor receptivity in any consistent direction or between articles of different content
