Famous since the Odyssey (IV, 229-230) for its drugs, Egypt furnishes the Greek world with some medical substances already mentioned in the hippocratic treatises. Moreover, some Greek drug names have been borrowed from the Egyptian language. The trade of drugs, spices and colourants always flourished in Egypt and intensified in Hellenistic and Roman times. As a continuation of our research on remedies of Egyptian origin in Greco-Roman pharmacopoeia, this paper provides a list of Egyptian ingredients used in Greek and Latin veterinary prescriptions. The use of these substances is compared with recommendations from human medicine. Their availability and costs are also studied
