in this essay, I try to approach how archaeologies that define themselves from different adjectives (ethnoarchaeology, collaborative, public and symmetrical) and which presuppose relations with present populations in archeological research from some classic works with indigenous populations in Brazil and in the context of archeology of the African Diaspora in the United States and in the Brazil. In discussing how these relations are established and thought in archeology, we observe how they are guided by specific theoretical assumptions, which both direct research objectives, the place of people in the production of knowledge and the relationship between archeology, anthropology and ethnographic practices.
