Fundação Cultural Palmares E a Comunidade Quilombola Rio Preto (To)

Quilombola communities in Brazil continue to fight for recognition of their territories. To reflect the theme, the objectives of this work were to analyze the importance and effectiveness of the Foundation Cultural Palmares in the process of certification of Quilombola communities, which is the basis for making land regularization of their territories viable. As well as reflecting on the consequences that this institutional omission brings in the real disputes that are initiated in our country, taking as an example the Rio Preto community, in the rural area of the municipality of Lagoa do Tocantins, in the state of Tocantins. In methodological terms, it was descriptive research, with primary bibliographic and documentary sources. It was possible to verify that failures, omissions and political interference in the Palmares Cultural Foundation are decisive in the advancement of transgressions perpetrated against quilombola communities. This study can contribute to the advancement of work related to studies of quilombos, especially in the northern region of the country
