Examinant la crise sceptique dite pyrrhonienne au debut de la philosophie moderne, l'A. montre que l'influence du scepticisme academique de Ciceron continue a etre effective malgre la domination du pyrrhonisme qui a suivi la traduction latine des oeuvres de Sextus Empiricus. A partir de la synthese proposee par Montaigne, le scepticisme academique de Ciceron va servir a Schoock, Huet, Rapin et Foucher contre Descartes et les cartesiens, ouvrant la voie au scepticisme moderne de Bayle et Hume
