Revolutionary societies such as China, Cuba and Tanzania have embarked upon major economic and political transformations in which education has assumed a principal role. Unlike many other emerging nations seeking development, however, revolutionary societies have conceived of education in quite special terms. In particular, these societies have developed educational programs which are inextricably linked to larger societal goals which are conceived of as moral in nature
