This article discusses the difference between sex and sexuality and sexual health on the basis of reproductive health and rights. Sex and sexuality are not the same as sexual health and cannot be reduced to it. This is because sex and sexuality do not fit quite so directly or comfortably into the practicalities of the reproductive health and rights agenda while sexual health does. To further explain sexuality is at the core of human identity and personhood. Humanizing sex means perceiving and describing not male and female sexual behavior but the behavior of men and women. On the other hand sexual health is more about gender equity. The main difference between sex and health is this: everyone wants to be healthy but not everyone wants sex. Perhaps the very linkage of sex and health means it is necessary to address disease prevention during sex as a first step to sexual health. Lastly sex matters and understanding sexuality are key to understanding many of the beliefs and much of the behaviors which affect health and reproduction
