The major part of the text consists of a new translation of the Tekhnē Grammatikē of Dionysius Thrax, with explanatory notes. In the introduction to the translation a brief account is given of the background to the work, including reference to the disputed question of its date and authenticity, and in general to Stoic and Alexandrian grammar
