The emergence of population policies in Africa. Government views on «population questions» have altered over time. The colonial powers were already interested in certain aspects of these questions. More recently, following the renewal of the terms in international debate, African governments have been gradually led to implementing plans of action, particularly in the area of fertility management. There have been different approaches and results : experiences in Mauritius are very different from those in Kenya or Ghana. Numerous actors intervene on the side of governments as they draw up and implement these programs, in particular : international institutions, non-governmental organizations, even the Churches. What strategies will these different actors develop facing the present upheavals in Africa
