Reading feminist scholarship, ethnographic work, poetry, and personal narrative together, this essay charts a Sri Lankan "poetics of diaspora" to trouble the perceived gap between national and diasporic, Afro and Asian, feminine and transgressive. In so doing, this essay attempts to craft an interdisciplinary reading praxis that accounts for the complexities of Sri Lankan female subjectivity both nationally and diasporically
