Garcia de Resende, in his Miscelnea e variedade de histrias, presents some trovas in which he summarizes the situation of the Portuguese metropolis with the rise of a large number of black slaves. It records the effects of Great Discoveries and his trovas reveal certain discomfort with the riches that emerge in Portugal, which, even with the arrival of those African slaves, collaborate to degenerate the dream of a perfect coexistence between those who lived in Portugal. This study intends to analyze in which situation the use of the mentioned poems was important to understand the meanders of our Colonization, with emphasis on the subject of slavery in Portugal and in Brazil
