Case has been a highly influential topic in syntax and morphology. This paper traces the development of Case theory within generative syntax from Government and Binding framework through Minimalism. It focuses on how the approaches to Case have been changing during the last three decades, paying attention to the theoretical arguments and empirical evidence that effected these changes
