The objective was to verify the choice of the shroud in Sergipe, from 1780- 1850, in 155 wills "to post mortem", the Judicial Archives of the State of Sergipe (AJES). Bibliographical and documentary research, based on the history of mentalities and content analysis method. The request of the shroud was made in this documentation, ranging from clothing preferred saints and invocations of Our Lady, to angel costumes, papal robes and white and black shrouds
