This article examines the use of racialized and classed forms of policing during the 2010 and 2011 strikes at the University of Puerto Rico. I demonstrate how university and police officials solicited the labor of low-income and Black youth to police the student movement in an attempt to frustrate the development of solidarity and shared aspirations between these groups. Enlisted as police proxies, I argue that these racially and economically marginalized youth were asked to reproduce the violence and repression directed at them against other youth in the service of the state. I trace how student activists worked to build alliances with these young people in the face of the divisive machinations of the state
