Why did Aristophanes entitle his comedy of 423 ВС « The Clouds »? In a series of articles published from 1980 to 1987, the author has tried to establish that "The Clouds" were an authentic parody of an initiation to the Mysteries of Eleusis. Here he demonstrates that Aristophanes entitled his comedy of 423 ВС "The Clouds" because the poet wanted to refer to the divine Eleusinian Cloud which, in 480, led the Athenians to the victory of Salamis : the comparison of Chapter 65 from the 8th book of the "History" of Herodotus with the verses 291-319 of "The Clouds" establishes this argument in a very convincing manner
