The demonstrations that took the streets in Bra-zil in June 2013 brought health care to the cen-ter of public debate. The protests exposed the limits of the Brazilian Unified National Health System (SUS): despite expanding care cover-age enormously, it is unable to assure service quality and suffers from chronic underfunding and management shortcomings.
