This article examines how Mukanda Tiodora (2022), by Marcelo D'Salete, reclaims Afro-Brazilian memory through epistolary narrative, visual aesthetics, and peripheral cultural references. The graphic novel challenges cultural hegemony by linking São Paulo's 1866 history to contemporary struggles, positioning writing as a tool of resistance and identity. Grounded in Munanga, Hall, Gilroy, Nora, and Fanon, the study highlights the work as a visual and textual manifesto that reclaims the periphery as a center of cultural production and identity reconstruction
