Parsons' classificatory system defining the social act is analyzed for tautologies and restrictions in the relationships among its elements. This generates a set of all possible viable social acts. It is also productive to view this system as a statement of process in the act. From this standpoint, prediction of human behavior becomes possible based on the probabilities of the occurrence of each type of act
