This article compliments the video "Across Space: Finding the farm in the city." It first outlines key methodological considerations in the production of a video in the academic geography video genre, including technology, scripting, editing, and the implications of authorship related to each of these. Then it discusses the intellectual aims of the video, which are to (i) show where the farm is represented in the city, (ii) show that by using the categories of urban and rural it allows us to attach values to places of a certain character, sometimes unjustifiably so, and (iii) demonstrate the transformative properties of space, i.e., how the meanings of artifacts change when they are used in different spatial contexts. The article concludes with methodological suggestions for other videographers wishing to produce motion pictures that relate themes frequently undertaken in academic geography
