In the fall of 2010, the Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies, as part of its True Wealth of Nations Project about the relevance of Catholic social principles for the development of just and sustainable economies, cosponsored a symposium with the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace on “Caritas in veritate and the United States.” Interdisciplinary in its approach, the symposium included experts in public policy, law, economics, international development, philosophy, and management, as well as representatives of a wide range of approaches to Catholic economic and social thought, including Michael Novak, Albino Barrera, Luk Bouckaert, John Coleman, Daniel Finn, J. Bryan Hehir, Mary L. Hirschfeld, Kenneth Himes, David Hollenbach, Michael J. Naughton, Paulinus Odozor, Johan Verstraeten, Bishops William F. Murphy and Mario Toso, and Cardinal Peter Kodwo Turkson. Daniel Finn has edited the results of the conference for Oxford University Press in The Moral Dynamics of Economic Life: An Extension and Critique of “Caritas in veritate.”
