The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the workmanship of the entrepreneur and historian Robert Simonsen. In the set of speeches, lectures and conferences pronounced by Simonsen, two subjects constantly appeared in many phases of his political performance. Our hypothesis is that, as base of the proposals of industrialization defended by him there was a distinct conception of Science and Technology that would serve of foundation to a way of thinking and acting; something that particularly led his work and intellectual practices. As, during his activities, he forged a specific notion of Science and Technology, and as this conception was determinative in his politic and industrialist life, that is the first concern of the development of this paper. In his sense, the construction of a nation is directly related to its industrialization. What we think it is possible to contemplate, from the writings and speeches of Simonsen, is that the creation of a nation meant to structure the country with rational economic mechanisms, elaborated on the basis of a certain glamorized picture of Science, as well as in the use of an ample technical device. We also analyze how Simonsen conceptions of Science and Technology based the construction of a nation in his political-industrialist project. To do so, we examined the set of his writings, articles and conferences, aiming to articulate it to his intellectual role. From this observation, it was possible to apprehend how Simonsen, trough his political life, gradually built his own idea of Science and Technology.Arguments that allowed him to formulate different and diverse basic themes of his industrialist project
