This PhD thesis is about the Ikólóéhj Gavião, ethnic group of the Southern Amazon Region who live in the Indigenous Land (Terra Indígena -T.I.) Igarapé Lourdes in the state of Rondonia. It deals with the place of the evangelical church, the rituals and shamanism in the sociocosmology of this indigenous people. The Ikólóéhj are experiencing being believers. However, the adhesion of the majority to fundamentalist protestantism and the apparent renouncement of the traditional rituals and shamanism were only possible after dancing become part of the church. In this sense, the church was transformed within ikólóéhj terms. They dance to anticipate immortality, to widen sociality and to live happy moments.Nevertheless, there has not been a substitution of knowledge and the cosmological ancestral beings by fundamentalist protestant teaching, nor syncretism. Both are brought into action depending on the context, making it clear that they are Ikólóéhj who are in control of the situation
