In the beginning of the 40's, the Kaingang from the Indian Land (Terra Indígena) (T.I.) from Rio da Várzea, were taken by surprise by Rio Grande do Sul Government despotic transformation of their homeland into National Park. For decades, they had not been allowed to have Access to their territory, and also suffered several kinds of persuiting and violence.Only by the end of the 90's they had their territorial rights partially repaired, and in, and in the 2003's Rio da Várzea territory was established. This study presents and analyzes the loses and posterior recuperation of part of the T. I. from Rio da Várzea, located in the North of Rio Grande do Sul State, through analysis of a group of kaingang's memoir. Its objective is to understand which are the representation of the group on this historical Project of territorial loses and recuperations. Therefore, a field research was done at T. I. Rio da Várzea between the years 2002 e 2003, aiming collecting stories of lives of the Kaingang who basically went through this process.Among other elements, this research shows that the territorial losses as well as the persuiting left indelible marks in the kaingang's memories. However, in spite of the past suffering, the Kaingangs see themselves, at the moment, as victorious at the political war, and the recuperation of their territory gave them back a new perspective of the future which was once impeded
