The antimagical polemic discourse is a historical-cultural phenomenon that runs through the entire course of Western civilization. From it, it is understood that the term magic has been used as an exclusion category, a tool to to stigmatize in particular the beliefs, practices, ideas, and behaviors of the Othera kind of religious, cultural, ethnic, etc. adversarywhich is the target of a polemic discourse. It is possible to identify that in certain historical periods and societies certain identities were established as the Other par excellence of this discourse. For example, the term magic appears in Ancient Greece to initially stigmatize Persian religious agents. In the medieval period, the Other of Christianity is mainly the pagan. And in modernity, the target is the figure of the primitive. Thus, this research aims to investigate what are and how the antimagical polemic discourse in Brazil established its Other(s).It is argued that the black or, later, the adherent of Afro-Brazilian religions have been mainly the main targets of the antimagical polemic discourse in the country, but also stand out the figures of the Indian, the woman and the spiritist as Others of this discourse
