Within the last four decades, the Brazilian religious field has undergone great changes, evidenced mainly by the emergence and growth of the Neo-Pentecostalism and the changes in the Catholicism itself, represented by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal as the contrast to the advancement of the Protestant churches. The goal of this paper is to show that these aspects are highlighted in the religious market because they promote, among other things, a reformulation of Christian theodicy, moving away from the Judeo-Christian orthodoxybased on the belief in a transcendent, sovereign, moral God -and approaching other religious traditions, whose foundation is an immanent conception of divinity. To withdraw from the Judeo-Christian orthodoxy, neo-Pentecostalism and the RCC assumes a form of religious life more in tune with the individualization process triggered by social changes brought out by the modern world.Among the results of this process, is the tension that arises between the desire for freedom and longing for security. Thus, while the individual wishes to be free from institutions, he does not give away religious beliefs, because it is still produces a meaning which he does not want to give up.It is from this incompatibility between the desire for emancipation of the individual and the rigidity of the orthodox postulates of traditional Christianity, that a most unorthodox spectrum of Christianity take place, since it adapts itself to a noticeably anthropocentric cultural-historical context
