The multiple social interfaces of communication can lead us to paths in which education and communication are intertwined through the "educommunication".This can be identified on the text from the document entitled Directory of Communication of the Church in Brazil, approved in 2014 by the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil, where the term "educommunication" was inserted.Recognizing the uniqueness of this fact, our research seeks to identify the pre-existence of practices that have led the Church to recognize the specificity of the concept of Educommunication, adopting it in a document that will guide the pastoral practice in the context of the relationship between communication and education. We limit our study to the pre-existence of signs that identify educommunicative perspectives in the action of the Catholic community in the Northeast hinterland, and more specifically in the Diocese of Juazeiro, on the banks of the São Francisco River, in Bahia. As from this line of thought, the research project we are presenting focuses on the action of one of the most recognized religious leaders in the recent history of the Catholic Church: Bishop Dom José Rodrigues de Souza, recognized throughout the country, with the title " The bishop of the excluded ".In this case, we will take as an object of study the communicative actions with educational intent present in three specific actions of the program developed by Dom José
