This dissertation is the result of an ethnography of State practices related to non-Brazilian people accused of international drug trafficking. With the Federal Courthouse of Guarulhos as the ethnographic locus, this research analyzed the ways state agents and agencies understand and construct categories that govern displacements and produce criminal categories together with national border control mechanisms .Criminal hearings, orders, sentences, laws and documents gathered in criminal proceedings made up this research object of analysis. They were examined as constructions and articulations of judicial and migratory categories, based on attributes of gender, race, class and nationality, and articulated from notions of "guilt", "conscience", "vulnerability", among others. The analysis of border production, therefore, passes through the examination of different spheres: from international policies to local practices of state agents.Such borders are produced from the production and operation of categories that distinguish the privileged mobility of some people and the displacements, migrations and interconnections that are prohibited, stigmatized and co-dependent of others
