The work investigates cultural references, related to symbolic heritage and Italian identity in the Brás and Mooca territory. The analysis aims to highlight, from the existing discourses, since European immigration (late 19th century and early 20th century) on the fact of the great Italian presence in the locality. This investigation stems from a local concern, in which social facts allow us to reflect on whether it is still possible to identify Italianness in this territory, either through memory bearers, or through marks, symbols and traces of identity, located in symbolic or instituted buildings. The Neighborhoods, known as predominantly Italian at the beginning of the 20th century, no longer claim to be as such, in their entirety. The great discussion is strengthened by European immigration, mostly Italian, which ended its cultural and social marks in the industrial period in which the Neighborhoods had great importance for the economic growth of the city of São Paulo. In this sense, it is possible to discuss, mainly about the importance of the Territory in the constitution of the city, from the participation in embracing the immigrants in the Hospedaria do Brás (currently the Immigration Museum). However, the work investigates whether even with the various cultural, social and economic transformations, it would still be possible to locate something about memory -the Italian presence today. The localized cultural references are elements that can be characterized and highlighted by various political mechanisms or collectively by the daily lives of passersby or fixed, an opportunity that marks the identity and cultural heritage imbricated in Brás and Mooca. The investigation has a qualitative approach, using bibliographic research, based on the main theorists on collective memory, memory of cities, cultural heritage and places of memory. From the methodological point of view and inspired by the Theory of Guy Debord (1958), it was allowed to inventory and travel the territory through the mapping of the drift, identifying the Italian presence in the reference neighborhoods
