The growing weightiness given to information and knowledge has been taking organizations in a path of searching for suitable technologies and qualified human resources capable of achieving their goals. The justification regarding this important statement lies on the continuous development of information and knowledge ́s production.Knowledge management as a way of implicit knowledge spreading in organizations has been considered an interesting choice for organizational management. And the knowledge networks, systematic links formed by specialists inside an organization, are actually the group of people socially involved with the purpose of generate, manage and spread knowledge in favor of institutional development.Public institutions are a perfect example of this context, since they can be considered as organizations. This research has as its main goal to analyze how the knowledge networks configure themselves as public institutions, taking as empiric field a system of a federal university libraries. The research is characterised as a descriptive one, bringing a mixed approach -both qualitative and quantitativeusing the case study as research method and the social networks analyzes as the data analyzes technique. The process steps where represented as: identification of the SIBI's knowledge actors, through institutional documentation; team's knowledge profile with the use of questionnaires and, at last, the relationship configuration analyzes, using graphs on the illustrations.Networks found illustrate weak links in the system as a whole. However, in a certain measure, the stronger the library groups, in configuring a fragmentary social network. It was concluded from the results in SNA that Knowledge Management is a non-existent method in SiBi/UFG, with some features only.It is believed that the creation of a management model based on organizational knowledge can strengthen the bonds between members, resulting in better performance of institutional activities
