This thesis investigates the analytical importance of the territorial extension on the studies of social movements, emphasizing the impacts of territorially based movements on the formation of new institutional arrangements. The principal subject of the research was constituted by the analysis of the development of the "quilombola" (former ex-slaves community) movement, focusing on the Amazon reality and, more specifically, on the case of the "quilombolas" established in the region of Trumpets, in Oriximiná region, state of Pará in far north of Brazil.Firstly, we proposed the elaboration of an analysis model that could provide a better understand about social movements through the territorial dynamics, mobilizing and defining the analytical roles classified in: territorialization, territorial conflicts, territorial identity and territorialities that are aimed at social movements. In the second moment, the intention was to discuss how these territorialities publicized by organized traditional populations, now holders of territorial rights, demands from the government regulatory agencies an reorganization of its agrarian logic (legal land distribution), built around a plastered, accumulating and privatist agrarian structure. The political strategies of self-demarcation of lands based on the common use of natural resources and titling on behalf of the community associations established as an particular case present in the Brazilian constitution: a property with a spatial logic distinct from other titling processes, whose owner is the community "quilombola" The model proposed an study case, as our gaze turned to the analysis of historical territorial conflicts in the region, to the formation of territorialities that are embodied in processes of political organization and in the formation of new institutional arrangements which gave rise to the first "quilombola" land titling in Brazil. We reconstructed the collective trajectory and mobilization processes of the seven "quilombola" ethnic territories in the region of Oriximiná, northwest of the state of Pará, from 1988 to 2012.Through documentary analysis, semi-structured interviews and academic productions already carried out with these groups, we identified the formation of a regional network of organizations mediated by the ARQMO (Association of the Remnants of Quilombos de Oriximiná) which carried out the first structures of a new public policy for the recognition and possession of ethnic territories. The "case of the quilombolas of Oriximiná" was presented as a model case where the public policy of land regularization for quilombola populations has its implementation based on the experiences of mobilizing these communities and selforganization.ARQMO's operating experience and its mobilization network allows us to think about the capacity for institutional innovation of collective actors fighting for territory and enables us to propose categories of analysis capable of explaining this potential
