This work aims to research the processes involving the production and performances contained in the historic LP Depoimento do Poeta, the first by the composer Nelson Cavaquinho, released in 1970.We approach, with the help of periodical research, the trajectories of Nelson Cavaquinho and Altamiro Carrilho prior to the recording of the LP, as well as discussing the strong documentary character of the disc, showing the socio-cultural environment and the various mediators involved in its conception and production. We present the terminology and concepts derived from the Theory of Audiotactile Music (TAM), as originally proposed by the Italian musicologist Vincenzo Caporaletti, among which we highlight the concept of extemporization, an alternative to certain moments of interpretive freedom not adequately represented by the common notion of improvisation. We highlight the performance of the flutist and musical director of the album Altamiro Carrilho from the interpretative recurrences based on extemporization processes, manifested both in the creation of introductions and codas for the sambas, development of solos and frequent insertion of ornamentation. This also includes the formal structures of Nelson Cavaquinho's sambas. Thus, it is expected to contribute to research in popular music from a perspective of integrated analysis of interpretative, biographical, anthropological, cognitive-tactile and theoretical argumentative procedures, arranged around the LP Depoimento do Poeta and its artists
