In this thesis I describe and analyze different trajectories assumed by the concept of sexual desire.Informed by the social studies of science and the critical studies of sexuality, I seek to point out the multiplicity and dynamism of definitions around this category in the scientificspecialized universe and social activism. The arguments focus mainly on the contexts of production and dissemination of knowledge and technologies through which versions about sexual desire are consolidated or questioned, indicating the agendas and tactics of the agents involved in these formulations.Initially, I trace the nomadism of the trajectory assumed by such a concept in sexology.Based on an analysis of classic publications in this field, I characterize the social anxieties and scientific requirements that govern their emergence in the mid-19th century, then encompassed by the notion of "sexual instinct", going through moments of historical discontinuity and being resumed within the framework of modern sexology, when proposing the diagnostic category "inhibited sexual desire disorder".In a following analysis plan, I demonstrate how, from the turn of the millennium, the concept transits and is affected by a new field of problematizations and disputes, that of the pharmacological treatments of male and female "sexual dysfunctions".On the one hand, sexual desire is relatively overshadowed when it comes to men's sexuality. It becomes an adjacent and prescriptive concept in materials for the dissemination of medicines for "erectile dysfunction" aimed at clinical professionals and patients, as well as in the media construction carried out around the medication Viagra in the period of its launch. On the other hand, in the wake of the intensification of the process of pharmaceuticalization of sexual problems, the concept is placed at the center of the intense sociotechnical debate that accompanied the regulatory processes of drugs indicated for the treatment of women's lack of sexual desire in the United States, configuring a controversy between representatives of pharmaceutical laboratories and feminist groups.Following the shifts in the concept of sexual desire, I approach its incorporation in the scientific-specialized field on old age and its effects, highlighting especially the sexual and scientific moralities arising from this process. Finally, I describe the strategies adopted by socalled asexual people in their attempt to legitimize the normality of an existence without interest in sex by introducing and validating their ideas about sexual attraction and desire in the specialized universe. The analysis of these levels of problematization is what supports the argument of the thesis about the nomadic and productive character of the notion of sexual desire
