The present paper intends to portray, although briefly, the construction of the image of the black in the Brazilian soccer under the context of World Cups from the period of 1938 to 1958.It is important to highlight the role of sports journals such as Diário de Pernambuco and Folha da Tarde, as well as the role of the Estado Novo in the construction of a new political ideology of national identity
